Stanley Steam Car Sedan Body, 1923 – 1924
Five-passenger sedan body for either a
1923 Model 740 or
1924 Model 750 Stanley
Steam Car.
Very complete, includes body, fenders, splash aprons, hood, condenser and shell with Stanley name plate, and hood shelves. Minor surface rust on very solid sheet metal.
Restoration started decades ago and abandoned.
Some good wood.
Missing rear seat springs.
This body belongs on a Model 740 or Model 750 chassis. There are very few sedans surviving and aparently no 750 sedans. This is as nice an un-restored Stanley Steam Car body as you will find anywhere.
Here are a wide selection of photographs. We acquired it very reasonably and are happy to pass it along to someone who will restore it and put it on a frame. Please email or call for information. donhoke at tx . rr . com.
Please see the three following photos from Kit Foster’s book, The Stanley Steamer: America’s Legendary Steam Car. They show this body on both a 740 and 750 chassis. Based on the size of the windows and the shape of the rear fenders, this body appears to be a five passenger body. There is little if any room for jump seats in this body.
We also have seven pairs of condensing car rear end castings, 735 and 740.
