This is one of my favorite images.  The left handed writer does not show evidence of  having learned Spencerian Penmanship.  He is working in a Stanley dealership in St. Louis, MO in 1908, and writing home to Limerick, Maine, about 200 miles north of Portland, saying, "Do you know who this is[?]  How is everybody in old Limerick[?]  From your friend W. L. Gehrards  So[uth] Side Auto Co.  St. Louis Mo.  Mr. Leonard Weymouth  Limerick, Maine"

J. H. Wright of Independence, Iowa promoted himself as "The Stanley Steamer Man."  This is one of a series of real photo postcards that he used for advertising.  It was mailed in Independence, Iowa in 1911.

Here is a wonderful J. H. Wright postcard showing Santa Claus using the Stanley Steamer.  Behind Santa and the Stanley is Wright's Garage in Independence, Iowa.  Although unused and never mailed, this card dates after 1907

The Stanley Mountain Wagon appears on the cover of this tourist brochure and is mention in the text just below the Petrified Tree.  While the brochure folds out and contains a great deal of information on the tour, there is no other information on the Stanley Mountain Wagons.

This illustration of the "Dampfwagen von Stanley" appeared in a German book published  in 1908.  That is a little late, considering the style of the car.

This illustration is from an unknown source.
