McDonald Steam Automobile Corporation 1923 – 1924 MacDonald Steam Automotive Corp. Garfield, OH This company attempted unsuccessfully to market a steam roadster called the MacDonald Bobcat but the car failed to catch on. Closed models were also offered, but most McDonald engines were ultimately used for those who wished to convert their gasoline cars to steam.[1] [1] Georgano, G. N., Encyclopedia of American Automobile, (New York, E. P. Dutton & Co., 1968), p. 123. The brochure indicated that Mr. McDonald was once president of the Gearless Motor Company, another late manufacturer of steam cars.
