The Crompton steam car used 24 separate fire-tube boilers mounted in two groups on each side of the 4-cylinder horizontal engine.  Drive was by vertical shaft to the rear axle.  A two-passenger body with curved dash in the style of the Oldsmobile was fitted, but steering was by wheel. [1]
