Cotta Automobile Co. 1901 - 1903 1. Cotta Automobile Co., Lanark, IL 1901 – 1902 2. Cotta Automobile Co., Rockford, IL 1902 – 1903 In appearance the Cotta was similar to many other light steam cars of the period, but it was the only one to feature 4-wheel drive and steering. The 6 hp 2-cylinder engine was mounted exactly in the center of the chassis and power was transmitted to all four wheels by compensating chain gear.[1] [1] Georgano, G.
