Coats Steamer Wisconsin Steamers, Inc. 543 Broadway, Milwaukee, Wisconsin 1922 – 1923 Coats Steam Motors, Sandusky, OH Despite wide publicity, few Coats Steamers were marketed. The car was powered by a 3-cylinder engine of Coats’ design, and, unusually for a steam car, it had a 2-speed and reverse shift with floor change. This advertisement appeared in the Wisconsin Motorist about 1921 - 1923. It is undated. The ad directs people to the Coats Steam Car at the Wisconsin State Fair. This advertising cover carried the letter below. It is dated March 17, 1923. Note the two air planes in the blue section of the cover. This letter was written in response to an inquire in Minnesota. It references a brochure, but no brochure came with this letter from the dealer.
